One of the biggest mistake people keep making when it comes to dieting is not paying enough attention to the type of sugar and sweetener they are getting in their food, snacks, drinks and even supplements.

Keeping your insulin level as low as possible and even at zero before a cardio session for example, is what you want in order to get your body into fat burning mode. On the other hand, you might want to get some good carbohydrates after your workout or during a long hike, which means you want to refuel your body, and more precisely, that will be the only moment you will allow yourself a high G.I healthy snack.

There are many companies innovating with various new products like protein cookies, protein chips, protein drinks, protein pizza, protein popcorn, protein everything... protein is everywhere!

Unfortunately, many of these products might contain certain types of sugar that will spike your insulin level through the roof, which is exactly what you want to avoid, especially if you're not being really active.

The key here, once again, is to simply be aware and remember to keep your insulin level as low as possible, this will help your body in the process of releasing leptin, which is the hormone that uses fat as energy source.

By basically knowing more about the different types of sugars and sweeteners that are commonly use in the food and supplement industry, you are basically adding to your knowledge a better understanding of what's best for you in order to burn fat. Remember that high glycemic food will spike your insulin level and you don't want that.

Below is a short list of some of the sweeteners that are commonly used in the food and supplement industry, but the list doesn't stop there, there are way more sweeteners than just the following ones.

In conclusion, be aware of what you're eating, especially if you're doing a low carb diet and are struggling to lose that stubborn fat.

Companies will always try to sell their products by claiming inaccurate statements and misleading information.

At the end of the day, knowledge is success if put into practice.

"You are never better served than by yourself".

The choice is yours!
